Hooded Ram brewery has lost its application to confirm a designated official for its TT festival event at the Bottleneck car park.

The verdict, delivered this afternoon (Thursday) by the licensing court chaired by High Bailiff Jayne Hughes, means the company will likely have to cancel its plans for this year’s fortnight.

During the hearing, police told the court that they had been informed the event had no security contract organised, which the company confirmed.

Event organiser Jim Brookman also revealed that the company had no contracts signed with a marquee provider or acts to play.

Mr Brookman criticised the police over a separate issue which he said had delayed the company’s plans to apply for Andrew Cross to be its designated official for the TT festival. But Mrs Hughes said she and the court did not accept this reason for delaying the application.

The police said there was no question of Mr Cross’ suitability as a designated official, but not for an event of this size for which he had no experience.

Mrs Hughes said the applicant, Hooded Ram, was ’unprofessional’ in its approach to its application.

Mr Brookman had told the court if Mr Cross’ application was rejected, they would have to cancel this year’s event.
