The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is carrying out a consultation exercise about the proposed Climate Change Bill, which is necessary to meet the government’s target of zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Dr Fiona Gell, of the DEFA, who is closely involved in the developed of the Bill, has offered to meet Ramsey Commissioners to talk through the aspects most relevant to local authorities. The meeting will take place at the town hall shortly.

The consultation document itself is comprises 55 pages and members agreed to familiarise themselves with it prior to the meeting.

Board chairman Andrew Cowie said: ’It’s a massive piece of legislation.’
