Radio station 3FM is closing the gap on Manx Radio.

The latest audience research figures covering the period January to March this year has been published by Radio Joint Audience Research (RAJAR) the official body in charge of measuring radio audiences.

It says that 42% of the island’s population tuning into 3FM every week - the station’s biggest audience in the last four years.

There is now a 1% difference in listenership compared with Manx Radio, the state-owned station, which is subsidised by the taxpayer.

A breakdown of listenership by age group shows that 3FM has more listeners under 65 than Manx Radio.

Manx Radio’s lead among the over-65s is substantial.

For younger people, 3FM is ahead.
