The Ship Registry has appointed a new deputy director.
Toby Brooks joined the Isle of Man Ship Registry after 24 years working within Paris-based classification society Bureau Veritas.
He has spent a number of years as a senior surveyor, before advancing into technical operations management, business development and project management roles.

Cameron Mitchell, who replaced Dick Welsh as director of the register in March this year and used to do Mr Brooks’ job, said: ’Toby will bring vast technical and commercial experience to the team and has all the attributes and expertise needed to take the Ship Registry forward. I wish him all the best in his new role and I look forward to working together and building on the Registry’s successes.’
Civil servants who market the Ship Registry say it is ’one of the world’s leading registers of ships and super yachts with a stellar reputation built on three key principles of great service, low cost, and high quality offerings’.
Mr Brooks said: ’I am very excited to be joining the Isle of Man Ship Registry and am enthused by the benchmarks in quality and service already set. I look forward to being part of the positive plans and focus the registry has to expand and succeed.’
