Businesses and business leaders have never been busier.
With an ‘always on’ culture and a feeling time is against us, we asked leading business people from across the island, what they have done with the extra hour this week as the clocks went back?
Mary Brady, Managing Director at Creechurch Capital
‘We work in a fast-paced world at Creechurch Capital, and there are no shortcuts to providing the high level of client service we are committed to delivering.
‘This means I am always looking for new ways to create efficiencies for the team; freeing up time both inside and outside of the office.
‘It’s so important to have the time to switch off and create that balance.
‘The extra hour this weekend gave me a great opportunity to hit that balance.
‘I was grateful to have a little extra time to relax and go for a walk and my highlight, as ever, was being able to spend some additional time with my beautiful grandchildren – another extra hour for this would have been nice actually!’
Tracey Leahy, Managing Director at Mannvend
‘They say it takes 720 hours to reach basic fluency in learning a new language; a challenge I have recently taken on as I set my sights on learning French.
‘Unfortunately, between my commitment to MannVend - which is busy as it’s ever been, being a mum of two children - and my involvement with a number of local charities, I am not left with as much time as I would like to dedicate to this. I kick started my learning with a brilliant course at the Isle of Man College earlier this year and have more recently moved on to private tuition.
The extra hour this weekend was dedicated to catching up on my French homework. More time S’il vous plait?”
Greg Ellison, CEO at
Capital International Group:
‘It’s a busy time at Capital International Group.
‘This year has already seen the creation of a new strategic plan and an acquisition in South Africa.
‘We’re on schedule to launch new branding and a new website on November 9 and we’re currently working with the Financial Services Authority on our application to open a new bank in 2018 under the newly formed Alternative Banking Regime.
‘I certainly could have done with many extra hours this year!
‘While normally at the weekend I try to steal an hour here and there to watch some rugby, this weekend I took the chance to spend my extra hour with my wife.
‘I’m not renowned for my skills in the kitchen - unfairly in my opinion - but I think Kate was secretly very impressed.’
