Well known businesswoman Carolyn Gelling is to lead island newcomers The International Stock Exchange (TISE) .
The news came on the day the Exchange completed its rebrand from the Channel Islands Securities Exchange (CISE) to TISE and ahead of launching its presence in the Isle of Man today. (Thursday).
Mrs Gelling will join TISE at the start of May from Thomas Miller Investment where she was a director, as well as holding responsibility for the management and development of the group’s collective investment funds business in the UK and Isle of Man.
She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and a chartered wealth manager, with 20 years of industry experience.
Fiona Le Poidevin, CEO of The International Stock Exchange Group (TISEG), said: ’I’m very pleased to announce Carolyn as our head of Isle of Man Office.
’She brings with her significant experience and joins us from a senior role locally where I know she is very well known among the financial services community.
’I’m really looking forward to working with her in showcasing the opportunities that TISE offers to businesses in the Isle of Man and the UK.
’In particular, there are Isle of Man businesses across a diverse range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, gaming, and technology in various guises, who may need to access capital to support their growth plans while there are also a number of local firms who will be required to support this activity through the provision of listing sponsor or accountancy, legal and administration services.’
Carolyn Gelling is a technical investment manager by training and more latterly her focus has been on corporate governance, business and strategic development for investment businesses and funds, spanning the spectrum of private client and structures, institutional clients and funds, in both the UK and international business jurisdictions.
Mrs Gelling has also completed the Institute of Directors Diploma in Company Direction.
She is a past chairman of the Isle of Man Wealth and Fund Services Association, and now continues as a committee member and life member, and has also served as a committee member of the Isle of Man Branch of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
The Exchange has completed its rebrand from the CISE to TISE.
Mrs Le Poidevin said: ’We have had strong support from our stakeholders since we announced plans to rebrand and it is very pleasing to be able to put that into action in such a short period of time and ahead of launching our presence in the Isle of Man.
’We have a very successful brand and our key attributes of being responsive and innovative remain unchanged so we have been careful to retain some continuity despite the change of name. However, it is also important to reflect the internationalisation of the business and especially our plans for the future. This is a very exciting time for the Exchange.’
Meanwhile, Isle of Man-based Anderson Whamond has joined the board of directors of The International StockExchange.
Jon Moulton, chairman said: ’I am pleased to welcome Anderson to the board.
’He has worked for several different international institutions within the capital markets sector and, as such, he brings with him experience that will be invaluable as we expand the footprint of the business, including through our office in the Isle of Man.’
Mr Whamond has more than 30 years’ experience in the banking and financial sector.
Mr Whamond said: ’I am delighted to be joining the board of directors at such an exciting time in the life of the company. Jon and the rest of the team have done a fantastic job in the last few years and I am really looking forward to working closely with them in developing the business in a variety of aspects.’
