An island food ordering website designed to ’alleviate the stress and loss of business amid the Covid-19 pandemic’ has passed £100,000 worth of orders made.
Eatout.im, which was developed in 72 hours by Afundi Digital Marketing Ltd in support of Manx food and drink businesses hit by the pandemic, passed the £100,000 mark last weekend after its launch on March 23.
Due to its success, it has been announced that the website is here to stay.
A rebranding of the platform has taken place to expand its services and functions while it continues to support trading.
Currently 36 island cafes and restaurants have signed up, including Noa Bakehouse, Dream Bird, Green Island Coffee and more.
Jessica Le Merle, co-founder of Afundi and Eatout.im, said: ’We are incredibly passionate about Eatout.im and assisting the island’s catering and hospitality industries.
’We want to reiterate our commitment to growing the platform and engaging with both consumers and businesses, to ensure that together we create the best experience for all involved.
’Reaching the £100k worth of orders milestone has been humbling, and we want to extend a huge thank you to the Manx community for supporting our island’s hard-working restaurants.
’We are here to stay once lockdown has lifted and we plan to grow this platform into the central hub for food and drink on the Isle of Man.’
Neil Barlow of Ocean Restaurant on North Quay, Douglas, said: ’Eatout.im has been a fantastic platform in helping our restaurant adapt in this strange time.
’It is quick and easy to use and accessible to all our customers, and the guys are also incredibly supportive with helping to keep our profile up to date.’
Updated features include the website’s logo - designed in collaboration with local graphic design house, Kim Gee Studio.
Customers can return to their favourite restaurants on the site under a ’favourites feature’ along with other helpful tabs. The site can now facilitate online payments, a function not previously supported.
Food and drink retailers can get in touch with Eatout.im to be included on the site and customers can also follow the online platform on Facebook.
