An island estate agents is to donate a portion of its agency fees to Hospice Isle of Man for at least the next 12 months.

Director of Manxmove, Graham Wilson, has explained why the Douglas-based firm has made the move: ‘We believe this is the moment for the Manx business community to come together and help support an organisation that means so much to so many families across our island.

‘We’re proud to announce that from now on a portion of our agency fees will be donated directly to Hospice Isle of Man to help support the incredible care and services they provide.

‘In 2025, 48% of Isle of Man deaths were supported by Hospice teams and in 2026, it will cost Hospice £7.5 million to deliver their services, with approximately 73% of that funding coming from the generosity of the Manx community.

‘Last year alone, Hospice supported 715 people across the Isle of Man while continuing to provide specialist palliative and end of life care, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

‘We also want to encourage other local businesses to get involved.

‘Alongside our regular donations, we are launching a fundraising campaign through an online JustGiving page with the aim of bringing together local corporate businesses to support this incredible cause.

‘Every business that donates will receive a shoutout across our social media platforms as a thank you for helping make a difference within our community.

‘As a local business ourselves, we understand how important it is to support the island and the people within it. Hospice provides comfort, dignity, and care during some of life’s most difficult moments, and we are proud to play a small part in helping that continue.

‘Whether you choose Manxmove to sell or let your property, or simply support the fundraising campaign directly, every contribution will help make a real difference here in the Isle of Man.

Rising costs, demographic pressures linked to an ageing population and comparatively low levels of government funding were among the ‘key factors’ behind its financial difficulties.

Alongside the redundancies, the charity announced plans to reduce costs and ‘refocus’ services through a series of changes aimed at securing its long-term future.

At the time, a spokesperson said: ‘Unfortunately, the financial reality we face is becoming increasingly unsustainable.

‘Despite our best efforts, the combination of rising costs, our ageing population and the reality of government funding accounting for just 24% of our total income — compared to 44% in Jersey and an average of 36% in the UK — has led to Hospice operating at a deficit for the past six years.

‘This is not a position we can maintain without risking the long-term future of the charity.’
