Are Isle of Man businesses ready to ensure compliance with tougher Companies House UK rules as a part of the ongoing fight against crime and the tightening of sanctions against rogue states?

This and other questions will be discussed at an event later this month which will focus on enhanced Companies House UK powers that will affect the Isle of Man and all other offshore jurisdictions.

The key speaker will be Liz Kinsey, managing director of corporate service providers CRO Corporate Services Ltd, which deal with the top UK law and accountancy firms as well as clients in the Isle of Man.

She will share her wealth of knowledge and experience at the ‘Changes at Companies House UK and how it affects clients of offshore businesses’ event - sponsored by Verify by Tiller – that will be held at The Claremont Hotel in Douglas on Tuesday, October 20 between 8am and 10am.

Verify by Tiller is a digital AML (anti-money laundering) and KYC (know your customer) platform, which supports more than 200 client firms across the UK Crown Dependencies, UK, Bermuda, Cayman, Sweden and USA.

The event will be hosted by Tiller Technologies’ chief revenue officer Julia Cowan and will cover:

  • The UK Companies House register clean-up under ECCTA (Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023)
  • Identity verification: Who must verify, how, and by when.
  • New transparency requirements for the Register of Overseas Entities.
  • What Authorised Corporate Service Providers (ACSPs) must now do when filing

Liz has spent more than 25 years at CRO and became managing director in 2024.

Her expertise spans company formations and company secretarial law.

CRO also holds a prominent position within the industry because it works closely with senior executives from Companies House and UK Government departments to help shape policy and influence legislation affecting the profession.

Commenting on the upcoming event, Liz said: ‘We want to help Isle of Man businesses to understand the impact that the new UK Companies House rules and other regulatory changes will have, and what they should be doing to ensure compliance, manage and mitigate risks efficiently, and ultimately provide the service to their clients.

‘Companies failing to comply face heavy fines, but the reputational damage is many times higher. In this context seeking the best professional services advice - and supporting it with the latest technology - is a cost-effective investment in the long run.’

Julia added: ‘We’re delighted to be able to welcome Liz Kinsey as the guest speaker at our latest “Thought Leadership” event which builds on our activities and presence in the Isle of Man over the past two years.

‘This latest event will give Isle of Man businesses the benefit of Liz’s and CRO’s wealth of expertise. Having spent significant time on the Island since 2024, we are keen to contribute to its culture of knowledge sharing and industry collaboration across the business community.’

Tiller Technologies research estimates that 60 to 80% of business in offshore jurisdictions is conducted through companies or legal entities rather than individuals, underscoring the need for advanced compliance technology.
