Raven Electrical has been taken over by facilities management company Stewart Clague Services (SCS) for an undisclosed sum.

The deal acknowledges the recent growth in the SCS electrical division and helps provide additional labour resource for both on site electrical engineers and management.

The assets of Raven including vehicles and equipment have also been acquired.

Alan Clague director of SCS said: ’Raven Electrical has been trading since 2010 and in that time has developed a very competent team under the management of both Eamonn McConway and Ben Jones.

’They have electrical contracts for some of the island’s major schemes along with regular domestic works and it will be very much business as usual as the company continues to trade under the Raven brand at least for the immediate future.

’Eamonn and his team will continue with Raven, albeit as a wholly owned subsidiary of SCS, and there will be an opportunity for further recruitment as the construction sector continues to pick up on the island.

’Ben will eventually be moving to pastures new as he takes up his commercial pilot training course in the States, we wish him well and support him in his new ambition to be a commercial airline pilot’.

Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of SCS which started out purely as a plumbing and mechanical installations company.

SCS is renowned for its corporate green branding/livery and vehicles which are seen working all over the Isle of Man.

Over the years, keeping up with trends in the industry SCS has developed new divisions including total facilities maintenance, air conditioning, building fabric, and electrical services.

With the acquisition of Raven, SCS says it is now the largest employer of both mechanical and electrical skilled engineers in the Isle of Man.

The company says this will will not only help self-delivery capability on installation projects, but also delivery of outsourced government and private sector facilities management contracts.

Eamonn McConway, director of Raven, said: ’This is a win win for both companies and all the staff involved.

’We are pleased to be have become a subsidiary of a company with the pedigree of SCS and look forward to the challenge ahead in securing future projects and working with both new and existing customers.’

SCS has more than 100 employees in the team and is based at Ballannette Park, Baldrine, while Raven’s home is Lake Road, Douglas.

SCS has been operating since 1969.

lMeanwhile, Stewart Clague Services (SCS) has been awarded UNESCO Biosphere partner status.

This is in recognition of the firm’s service delivery which includes innovative energy saving installations, the continuing support and sponsorship of the Ballannette Trust nature reserves, obtaining ISO 14001 environmental quality standard and the cultural change across all SCS divisions supporting the UNESCO Biosphere pledges specific to the Isle of Man.

Director Alan Clague said: ’We feel this partner status is vital towards keeping the pedigree of this wonderful island alive.

’We have a very diverse team and skillset here at SCS all of whom contribute not only to the way that our infrastructure and built environment is looked after, but also to the integrity of providing good working standards for all of our people to enjoy their role within the organisation and reap rewards relative to their own objectives and skills.’
