An associate with PwC Isle of Man has secured the second highest mark worldwide in a qualification.

Holly Karran from Onchan achieved the highest marks of anyone in the Isle of Man sitting of the final ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) papers.

Miss Karran, 25, who joined the firm as a graduate from the University of Chester on the firm’s student accredited training programme, has been promoted to senior audit associate.

Miss Karran said: ‘It is a real honour and I’m naturally thrilled to be named a global prizewinner in the ACCA examinations. I think it reflects the work I put into the qualification, as well as the huge support my colleagues at PwC have given me throughout.’

As well as qualifying, Miss Karran has received a silver medal, £400 in prize money and a certificate of merit for her achievement.

She started work towards the ACCA qualification shortly after joining PwC Isle of Man in 2015 and sat her final exams last month.

She added: ‘The support I have received since joining the firm has been so beneficial, as has the guidance of the team at MPES (Manx Professional and Educational Services Limited). I am looking forward to working with my clients and helping our firm continue to provide the exceptional service we offer clients.’

Ian Clague, senior partner at PwC Isle of Man, said: ‘We are delighted with this fantastic news. Clearly, finishing so high in the worldwide rankings is outstanding and deserved recognition for such a significant amount of hard work.’
