Around 50 members of Noble’s Hospital Volunteer Service are to enjoy a trip on the Touring Tea Bus this summer, thanks to a Celton Manx Recognition award.
Noble’s Hospital’s front-of-house manager Dawn Stanton said: ’We have a fantastic team of volunteers - around 100 in total - who give so generously of their time to support patients and their families.
’We wanted to say "thank you" to our volunteers in a way that would recognise their dedication and the invaluable service they provide, so we were delighted that our application for a Recognition award was successful. This means we can now offer some of our hard-working volunteers a token of our appreciation, a trip on the Touring Tea Bus.’
Celton Manx executive director Bill Mummery said: ’Giving back to and supporting the local community is not only central to our business culture but also an ethical approach we applaud in others.
’We have long recognised the important role volunteers play in our society; they work tirelessly to support those most in need and the vulnerable at a time when the strengths and assets of the third sector are being called on increasingly to deliver a wide range of care-giving services. With this in mind we believe that the vital contribution the volunteers make to patients’ quality of life and the overall Noble’s Hospital environment is one which merits reward.
’We are therefore pleased to make this Recognition award of £1000 and wish everyone on board the Touring Tea Bus a great trip.’
Recognition is the corporate social responsibility programme of Celton Manx which aims to support some of the Island’s lower-profile charities and not-for-profit organisations with only limited resources for promoting and developing their services.
In 2017 27 Recognition awards were made. Applications for this year are closed.
Submissions for Recognition 2018 will be invited towards the end of 2017.
