Hotel company staff have raised thousands of pounds for a charity.
The Sefton group raised through collection boxes and a range of events including a sponsored car wash, a sponsored swim, a static bike ride, raffles for hotel accommodation, a charity bingo evening and a Christmas fair, all organised by the firm’s charity committee.
They raised £8,143 for its 2017-2018 nominated charity Wish Upon a Dream.
Now in its 12th year, the Manx-registered charity grants wishes for children in the island who are sick or terminally ill.
Sefton Group chief executive officer Brett Martin said: ’I should like to thank our customers and our staff for their generosity in supporting Wish Upon a Dream.
’This is a very worthy local cause which has clearly captured the hearts and minds of the people of the Isle of Man.
’The Sefton Group is as committed to its corporate social responsibilities as it is to operational excellence.
’It is important for us to be "a good neighbour" and a valued partner in the local community.
It is for these reasons, and in recognition of the hard work and dedication of Lesley Turnbull MBE, founder of the charity, and her team that Wish Upon a Dream was chosen as our nominated charity for 2017-2018.’
Lesley Turnbull said: ’The Isle of Man is noted for its strong sense of community, not only among the general public but also within the business sector, so I’m enormously grateful to all the Sefton Group’s customers and staff for supporting us with such enthusiasm and raising this fantastic sum of money so that we can continue to make wishes come true for children enduring life-altering conditions with remarkable courage.’
As well as the Sefton Hotel on Harris Promenade, Douglas, the company owns and runs the Palace Hotel on Central Promenade.
