Employers from across the island are being invited to join an important event at University College Isle of Man focused on shaping the future of its skills-focussed curriculum.
The ‘Bridging the Skills Gap’ event will be held on Friday, October 16 at UCM’s Homefield Road campus in Douglas, will bring together employers and educators to identify practical actions to support the skills needs of employers. UCM said it will further strengthen the links between the educational institute and industry in the island.
A UCM spokesperson said: ‘The forthcoming event will be open to business owners, directors, managers and human resource professionals from all sectors, the event will provide an opportunity for employers to share their experiences, influence future priorities and help shape solutions that support economic growth.
‘The programme includes expert insights on the changing labour market, the skills young people need to thrive in tomorrow's workplace, the impact of technology and emerging trends, as well as discussions on curriculum alignment and creating more meaningful world-of-work opportunities.
‘The day will feature a keynote presentation from Olly Newton from Edge Foundation, a panel discussion and collaborative workshops designed to turn ideas into action and ensure employers play a central role in developing the Isle of Man's future talent pipeline.’
