An island firm has successfully completed a deal to acquire a Dublin-based unit-linked life insurance provider.

International Financial Group Limited (IFGL) announced the move in March, but has concluded its acquisition of Octium Group, the Dublin-based unit-linked life insurance provider Octium Life DAC, and its Liechtenstein-based tied agent intermediary Octium International Insurance Agent AG.

IFGL say the deal marks a significant milestone in the group’s long-term strategy to expand its presence across Europe.

A spokesperson for the firm said ‘The acquisition strengthens IFGL’s position in the European market and significantly enhances its ability to serve customers across the EU and EEA.

‘Octium Life DAC, formerly UBS International Life DAC, specialises in providing solutions for affluent, high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, while Octium International Insurance Agency AG is the sister company supporting the distribution and intermediation of Octium Group products.

‘With its Central Bank of Ireland, and FMA Liechtenstein licences providing access to customers throughout the EU/EEA, Octium broadens IFGL’s regulatory reach and creates new opportunities for sustainable growth across the region.

‘The business joins IFGL with approximately €8.5 billion in assets under management and a team of 70 colleagues.

‘Octium will continue to operate under the leadership of its chief executive, Dara Hurley, ensuring continuity for clients, partners and employees as the businesses come together.’

Chief executive of IFGL Rob Allen added: ‘The completion of this acquisition marks a pivotal moment in IFGL’s strategic expansion across Europe.

‘Octium brings a high-quality customer franchise, deep expertise in the affluent and high-net-worth market, and a valuable regulatory platform.

‘By combining Octium’s strengths with IFGL’s long-term focus, financial stability and international reach, we are accelerating our ability to serve customers across the EU and EEA while advancing our vision for growth in this important region.

‘We are delighted to welcome Dara and the Octium team to IFGL and look forward to building on the strong foundations they have established.’

Chief executive of Octium Dara Hurley said: ‘Joining IFGL marks an exciting new chapter for Octium.

‘This transaction is a strong endorsement of the platform we have built and the strategic direction of our business.

‘As part of IFGL, we benefit from enhanced scale, capital strength and international reach, creating a powerful foundation for future growth. IFGL’s global presence, product breadth and experience in building international platforms will enable us to expand our offering, access new markets and continue delivering high-quality, compliant solutions for our clients and partners.

‘We are excited to be part of the IFGL family and confident this positions Octium for sustained growth and long-term success.’
