A well-known island shop that has been ’lighting up people’s lives’ for 30 years has today (Tuesday) announced it is to close.
Lights of Man has been operating since 1988.
The news follows just a week after Isle of Man Newspapers reported that electrical store Waltons had closed.
Lights of Man managing director Chris Williams said that following a ’dramatic downturn in lighting sales over the past 18 months, we have decided to close our store in Spring Valley.’
He added that replacement light bulb sales which account for over 40% of business have also suffered since the introduction of new, better quality, long life LED light bulbs
Mr Williams added:’We are now running a closing down sale with 50% off all items in store.
Mr Williams said it was ’a very sad time’, not only for himself but for the other two members of staff who have both been with the business for more than 20 years.
He said: ’The sale is now on with all items reduced by 50% including lights, mirrors, rugs, cushions, conservatory furniture and exterior teak furniture.
