Manx Telecom has invested in a new vehicle fleet, and in the process supported the local economy by awarding three contracts to Isle of Man businesses.
The new vehicles are all leased from Ocean Motor Village in Braddan, and the fleet comprises seven Ford Fiestas, 16 Citroen Berlingos, and 22 Ford Transit vans of various specifications.
Signrite provided the livery with Manx Telecom branding, and Manx Car and Van Solutions installed racks in the new vans for storing equipment and tools.
Sean Dickinson, Manx Telecom’s head of field operations, said the new fleet provided many advantages for the business, customers, and the environment. He said: ’The new vehicles have better fuel economy and lower exhaust emissions. The specification and interior design features we have chosen will allow our engineers and technicians to make even more efficient use of their valuable time, whether that’s installing a new superfast broadband line in a customer’s home, or working to repair storm damage to essential network infrastructure.
’The new fleet is part of broader improvements we are making to how our field operations are structured, and ultimately this will deliver even better service for our consumers and business customers.’
The interior of the new vans has an improved lightweight racking design which allows engineers to make better use of storage space for essential tools and equipment.
