Milk is being delivered in plastic bottles this week after a machine malfunction.
The Creamery’s milk carton packing machine has broken down which means some lines of milk in cartons are unavailable until a new part arrives from Italy.
’The fault is with an electrical part and isn’t something we would commonly expect to have an issue with and as such we do not carry any spares on-site,’ said a spokesperson.
’To allow us to continue to collect milk from the 30 dairy farms that make up our cooperative, we are packing all milk into polybottles while the machine is out of order and will substitute our doorstep and retail customers where we do not have cartons available.’
The new part is expected to arrive by the end of this week, and the carton machine up and running again by the weekend.
