Business newcomer, the LV Care Group, has launched in the Isle of Man.
The so-called ’premium care’ provider will be headed up by Ann Sharvin who is well-known within the island’s care industry, having worked in the sector for more than 30 years.
A spokesman said LV Care Group is already well-established in Jersey, where it has six adult care homes and offers health and social care services, including its own pharmacy.
As well as general care for older residents, they are said to have expertise in dementia care, mental health and wellbeing services and nursing for complex needs.
In addition to offering bespoke care packages and services, which are now available in the Isle of Man, the company is finalising the development of its adult care home in Ramsey.
The group’s first home in the island is due to be officially launched and available for residents to move in from the start of September.
The home is in Alkest Way and is on the site of the former King’s Reach home but the company stresses that there is no link with the previous business that operated there.
LV has an office base in Tromode.
The home has been designed to a ’very high standard’ using Manx craftsmanship and suppliers, including Auldyn Construction which has been the main contractor.
Recruitment of local specialist staff and intense training has already begun.
At present some 15 people work for the business in the island in the home care sector.
Once the new home is up and running it is envisaged that it will be more than 50 people.
The LV group, formed in 2010, believes older members of society should have access to ’first-class living surroundings and be cared for by compassionate, thoughtful and well-trained health care professionals and carers.’
Ann Sharvin said the group is looking forward to implementing those same cultures and values in the Isle of Man: ’As an employer of choice in Jersey, we will certainly be striving to achieve the same here.
’In addition to the high-quality facilities we offer, it is our staff that really make a difference to the lives of those we care for and their commitment to our culture of excellence which makes us a cut above the rest.
’While we are part of a group that was founded in Jersey, the operations in the Isle of Man will be locally managed, which is something we all feel is important as it truly makes us accountable to the people we care for and their families.
’Looking after people’s loved ones is a real privilege and it’s important that the management team is here to ensure standards remain high.
’I’m excited to have joined LV Care Group; we’re very clear that we want to better the standard of adult care in the island. We’re investing heavily in recruiting the right staff and raising the bar in terms of training and qualifications to ensure the people we care for are well looked after.’
Chris Shelton, joint-founder of LV Care Group and chief operations officer, said: ’We have gone from strength-to-strength since launching in Jersey almost 10 years ago, and are thrilled to now be extending our reach to the Isle of Man.
’We are committed to investing time, money and resources into the island and its economy. Our focus over the next few months will be to employ local skilled staff with a passion for delivering the highest standards of care and begin our journey to becoming a respected care provider deeply rooted in the Manx community.’
