Isle of Man Post Office has confirmed that the price of sending a standard letter from the island will increase by 5p from the start of April.

The cost for sending a letter will increase to 62p which it said ’remains the cheapest first class postal service in the UK and Channel Islands, and among the best value in Europe’.

The Post Office has also announced increases to large letter and packet prices which will ’bring more into line with equivalent UK first class mail services pricing’.

Other percentage increases announced include: ’A 1.5% increase on special delivery UK next day guarantee services; Increase of less than 5% in international letter pricing; A general increase of 4% on domestic and international parcels; No change to price for door to door unaddressed leaflet delivery service; And a general increase of 4% across our ancillary services’.

The Post Office added: ’Following the Universal Postal Union decision to change the way terminal dues fees are calculated with effect from July 1 2020, further changes to our parcel services may be necessary.’
