A company’s investment in a scheme to help good causes in the island has topped the £1m mark.
A recognition project run by online gaming company Celton Manx is now in its sixth year.
The 2020 awards are going to benefit 20 organisations.
Executive director of the Isle of Man Business Park based company, Bill Mummery said: ’We are now in our sixth year of Recognition and our investment in the scheme has topped the £1million mark.
’For Celton Manx, investing in the community isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s about putting something back into the island that is home to our business and where we are effectively "guests" that have been warmly welcomed.
’Some 100 applications were received from a diverse range of organisations, all of whose endeavours and ambitions to transform the lives of others are truly commendable. The awards selection process is not only challenging but also illuminating, as it illustrates the third sector’s unfailing determination to transform people’s lives despite being under pressure and under resourced.
’Our Recognition awards, be they monetary, practical or technical support, are aimed at unlocking the third sector’s body of knowledge, expertise and creativity.
’In so doing we hope that charitable organisations will be better equipped to secure the best outcomes and improve life chances for their clients and, ultimately, that they can help to create a fairer and more inclusive society.’
Recognition is the Celton Manx corporate social responsibility programme aimed at supporting lower-profile charities and not-for-profit organisations with limited resources to fund, deliver and develop their services.
The 2020 applications process is now closed and there will be reports during the course of this year on some of the projects that and schemes that have been boosted by the Recognition scheme winners.
