An island advocate has been recognised in a publication that ranks the world’s best lawyers and law firms.
Annemarie Hughes from DQ Advocates has been listed as a Band One lawyer, the highest tier, in the Chambers High Net Worth annual guide.
The London-based directory is compiled by more than 180 full-time researchers and used by family offices and professional advisors to provide impartial guidance on an international scale.
Annemarie, who is head of DQ’s trusts, pensions and private client team, has been with the company since 2010. She regularly advises high net-worth individuals and families, as well as working closely with local fiduciary and trust service providers.
The guide includes positive client comments such as: ‘She is an excellent lawyer’ who provides ‘sound knowledge and objective advice’ and possesses fine ‘communication skills’.
Another testimony said: ‘No matter what the level of understanding is of the people she is speaking to, she manages to convey the information clearly. It is a pleasure to work with her.’
Annemarie said she is thrilled to be listed as a Band One lawyer.
She said: ‘To be recognised in this way is a wonderful honour. To hear what some of our clients have said about working with us is very rewarding. We continually strive to build genuine, long-term working relationships.
‘It is really pleasing to think this recognition means our clients value the way in which we provide our services.’
The professional team at DQ, which wrote an in-depth chapter for the directory focusing on trusts, was also ranked highly (Band Two) in the company category, described as ‘definitely a go-to-firm in the island’ and one which is dedicated to its clients.
The Douglas based practice was commended for its ‘technical expertise’ and ‘very friendly and professional’ approach. The team works with local and international trust clients, advising on all aspects of Isle of Man law.
‘They know what they are doing,’ added one client. ‘They are very practical and commercial and get on with things. They are second to none for trusts work on the island’.
Annemarie concluded: ‘To receive such references from clients means a lot because they are the people we strive to deliver for.
‘We are approachable and endeavour to add value to our business clients. Rankings like these will hopefully further cement those relationships.’
