The one-year scheme is aimed at young people who want to work in marketing and provides hands-on experience within the industry while working towards The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Foundation Certificate in Marketing (Level 3) and the first module of the Professional Certificate (Level 4).
The scheme is run in partnership with with the Department of Education, Sport and Culture and The Marketing Partnership.
Heather Blackley, director of The Marketing Partnership, said: ’The first year of our Marketing Apprenticeship Scheme has been brilliantly successful.
’We have helped create new jobs in great companies such as Appleby and the students have achieved merit and distinction level passes in valuable professional qualifications based on the CIM programmes.
’I am proud of the performance of the programme for both students and employers and look forward to being able to offer this opportunity to another 12 apprentices with our next intake this coming September.’
Applications for the marketing apprenticeship at Appleby are now open, with the successful candidate due to begin over the summer. The paid placement will consist of four days each week in the firm’s Douglas-based office, working with the marketing team, and one day studying towards the professional qualification.
Faye Moffett, managing partner at Appleby’s office in Douglas, said: ’The scheme is a great opportunity for a recent school leaver, university graduate or young adult with a passion for marketing to gain indispensable experience in a global law firm, while also studying towards a highly regarded professional qualification.
’The successful applicant will join our busy marketing team and be given the opportunity to develop new skills, gain experience and build confidence, while working on various marketing projects and campaigns over the 12 months.’
Nineteen-year-old Phoebe Harwood has just completed the 2017/18 apprenticeship at the Athol Street law firm and has secured a permanent position as global communications assistant.
She said: ’The Isle of Man Marketing Apprenticeship Scheme is a fantastic initiative and I am delighted I made the decision to apply.
’Not only did I gain invaluable industry experience during my placement, but I now have a professional marketing qualification and have been offered a permanent position in the global communications team of a leading law firm - it really couldn’t have worked out any better.’
’I would encourage anyone thinking about applying to take the plunge, it is a brilliant opportunity.
