This was the scene after the front wall of a derelict property on Ramsey seafront collapsed.
It was lucky that no one was walking past at the time.
But rubble struck a Citroen car that was parked opposite. It was badly dented and with one of its windows smashed.
Police closed a section of South Promenade while building inspectors assessed the property. The public were urged to avoid the area. With barriers placed around the unsafe building, access to the lifeboat station has been restored.
Simon Ball was walking his dog at about 8.20pm on Tuesday when he saw the front of the building collapse.
He told the Manx Independent: ’I was just walking on the beach and heard this rumble. I saw the whole front wall come down. It hit the hoarding and a big chunk came over the top and hit the car.’
The collapsed building is the former Midwood Photography premises. It became an amusement arcade for a time but has been vacant for years.
Hoardings painted with Ramsey scenes had been put up to disguise the eyesore.
With the whole of the front wall collapsed, the interior wooden cladding has been left exposed.
