The Celtic Media Festival is taking place in the Isle of Man from today until Friday.
Manx Radio presenter Christy DeHaven and BBC Northern Ireland’s Rick Faragher, a Manxman who used to work as a sports reporter for Isle of Man Newspapers, unveiled spectacular views of Douglas as they prepared to present at the festival’s four main awards ceremonies.
The presenters posed overlooking Douglas Bay and on Douglas Head, in front of the loughton sheep, a massive sculpture created by local artists Darren Jackson and Stephanie Quayle especially for the festival.
It’s the first time the festival has visited in the Isle of Man in its 40-year history.
Hundreds of delegates have arrived on the island.
The festival’s first award winners will be revealed at the Day One Torc Awards ceremony, which will take place later today at the Villa Marina.
The Celtic Media Festival’s aim is to promote the languages and cultures of the Celtic countries on screen and in broadcasting.
It includes entries from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man, Cornwall, Brittany and Galicia.
The festival is core funded by: BBC Wales, BBC Northern Ireland, Irish broadcaster RTÃ?, TG4, MG ALBA, Northern Ireland Screen, BBC Scotland and S4C, the Welsh-language television service.
