The road between Castle Mona Avenue and Esplanade Lane South junctions in Douglas will close this weekend as the final surface on Central Promenade is laid.

The works are part of the promenade’s much-delayed redevelopment.

The closures will take place between 8am and 5pm on Saturday, November 6, 8am and 4pm on Sunday, November 7 and between 9am and 5pm on Monday, November 8.

Auldyn Construction and MyProm Project Team said: ’We apologise to all residents and businesses in these locations for the inconvenience these closures will cause.

’This will result in this area of Douglas Promenade being closed during these times with diversion signage in place.

’This work is weather dependent so updates will be posted on @mypromisleofman social feeds if work dates change.

’A three-week road closure has been applied for to allow for weather conditions, but works, once they start will only be for the three-day period.

’Thanks to residents and businesses for their cooperation and understanding.’

Last week new Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall admitted it was going to be hard to put an end date on the overall prom project stating in the House of Keys: ’It’s really, really awkward and difficult to put a completion date on it.’
