A number of charities have benefited from the Peel Charity Shop’s annual donation.
Thirteen charities attended a small celebration at the Peel Golf Club after donations - raised through people spending at the Shore Road shop - were granted to them.
Over its 15 years, the shop has raised more than £1million towards charitable causes.
A spokesman from the shop said: ’Peel Charity Shop could not achieve this without the generous support from the public who give their unwanted items to us so we can help others in need.’
Donations were made to: Parkinson’s Disease Society Isle of Man; Bridge the Gap; Swimsafe; Isle of Man Breast Care; Manx Blind Welfare; Manx Decaf; Manx Eating Disorders; Motor Neurone Disease Isle of Man; Motiv8 Addiction Services; Multiple Sclerosis Society Isle of Man; Sailing for the Disabled; Manx Workshop for the Disabled and Monitors4Kids.
As well as the two donation events this year, the Peel Charity Shop has also recently supported: Isle Listen; Singing Jo; Friends of Centenary Centre; Joey Dunlop Foundation (JDF); Peel Youth Centre; Salvation Army Christmas Appeal; British Legion Poppy Appeal and Carriage Driving for Disabled.
The JDF, which provides self-catering holiday accommodation for disabled people as well as their friends and family, said: ’The recent donation received from Peel Charity Shop has assisted the foundation in purchasing two new air-mattresses and a specialist shower chair.
’This equipment is essential for some of the disabled guests that stay at Braddan Bridge House.’
