Quing, a charity that helps people to recover from trauma, has provided specialist training to its members.
Grief coach and therapist Diane Parker from Life After Loss coached members, following a request from Quing chief executive officer Graham Clucas.
Mrs Parker offers training in the grief recovery method, an educational programme which teaches people how to heal from the pain of loss.
She said: ’Grief is the emotion that we all feel when we experience an end in a familiar pattern of behaviour, whether that is brought about by death or changes and difficulties in other areas of life: relationships, finances or careers.
’Unresolved grief has a devastating effect on our health.
’When we do not know how to process the pain, we turn to short-term pain-relieving behaviours which can sometimes lead to harmful practices - alcoholism, gambling, drug-taking.
’The grief recovery method helps you to manage your losses and discover the tools to cope with life’s rollercoaster.’
She added: ’I was delighted when Graham approached me with a view of doing the course with Quing’s members.
’When I learned that they were short on funding, I approached Paul Chase of Chase Wealth Solutions to see if they would part-sponsor the course.
’I was delighted when he agreed, and he has been very supportive to me during the delivery.
Mr Clucas said: ’I was totally surprised by the effectiveness of the grief recovery method and the depth of healing of the members who took the course.
’The members who were unable to attend this course have already booked the next one. I am thankful to Diane and Chase Wealth Solutions for enabling this experience.’
