Members of the Women in Song Community Choir would normally be busy planning their biennial off-island concert tour and using the funds they raised at their October and February coffee mornings to help finance this.

However, these are not normal times and it will now be 2022-23 before another concert tour can be considered.

The pandemic has meant the cancellation of many events and charities are experiencing a fall in revenue so the women decided to donate the monies raised at these events to three local charities.

They were able to give £500 to Hospice Isle of Man.

The Peel and District Anti-Cancer Association also received a cheque for £500 and a quilt made and raffled by a choir member raised an additional £276 for the association.

The lifting of the last circui-breaker lockdown came just in time for the choir’s Valentine coffee morning held on February 12 and the women were able to donation £500 to The Manx Deaf Society from this event.

The choir concert at Peel Centenary Centre in November raised more than £1,500 for the centre and, coupled with the latest cheque presentations, means that the members of the choir have raised and donated more than £3,000 since October 30 last year.
