One of the leading choral groups on the island is adding a touch of home-grown star quality to its spring concert.
The Isle of Man Choral Society is to welcome the London -based professional actor and singer Helen Power as guest artist for its grand performance of Carmina Burana, which will be held at the Villa Marina on Sunday, March 29, from 3pm.
Helen is originally from the Isle of Man and is a former pupil at Ballakermeen High School, before studying and training in musical theatre in England.
Her credits have included starring in musicals such as Chicago, Hot Mikado, Sunset Boulevard and Blonde Bombshell, alongside appearances in TV shows the BBC series Capturing Mary.
She also starred in the Phantom of the Opera, performed at the Theatre Orb in Tokyo.
Helen also performs all over the world as a singer with the classical cross-over group Bravo Amici and also released her debut album, ’Enraptured’, last year.
Helen joins fellow guest singers tenor Richard Pollock, the three-times Cleveland Medal winning baritone singer Graham Crowe and piano soloist Judith Christian, along with members of the Mannin Youth Choir and the ranks of the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra.
The concert features what the society think will be a record number of singers and will also feature a contrasting performance of Beethoven’s Choral Fantasia.
