Craft workshops to help people make their own weird and wonderful creations to be paraded through Strand Street will begin later this month.

The willow lantern workshops will take place at the Villa Marina Arcade over two weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, November 13 and 14 and again over the next weekend.

The workshops will let families make willow framed, illuminated paper lanterns to be carried through Douglas town centre during the Christmas lights switch on, set to take place on Thursday, November 25.

Arts Engagement Officer, Grainney Sheard said: ’The willow lantern workshops are very popular and offer families the chance to get really creative.

’Each year we see a huge range of designs and sizes from the straightforward to the highly elaborate.’

There are 20 places per session available, which must be pre-booked.

Bookings are free and can be made through villagaiety.com/willowlanterns
