Air service provider Citywing is still suffering major disruption to its services.

It comes after an incident during Storm Doris on Thursday.

Citywing’s Van Air-operated flight 502 took off from the Isle of Man destined for Belfast but returned due to deteriorating weather conditions in Northern Ireland.

It had landed safely at Ronaldsway after being diverted. Passengers were bused to the terminal but the aircraft could not be moved in the high winds, resulting in both runways being closed.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is still investigating the incident and discussing it with Van Air.

On Friday Citywing said it hoped the situation would be resolved in 24 to 48 hours.

But five days on the situation has still not been resolved.

Citywing managing director David Buck today said: ’We have no idea as yet when we will be able to put out a long term plan but working really hard to achieve this.’

Citywing is not an airline. It is a virtual airline that sells seats on scheduled air flights operated under charter from Van Air Europe.

It has patched together a service that’s quite different from its usual schedule.

Mr Buck said: ’We apologise again for the disruption this is causing to travel plans.

’We will do our best to keep passengers informed over the next few days but it is a huge task, we ask for your patience whilst we do so.

’We are working on a long term plan that means that you all will be able to plan accordingly.

’We are also refunding people as quickly as we can where appropriate, so we ask for your patience whilst we do this task.’
