Local choirs are to be given the chance to perform with the world’s most successful musical theatre group, Collabro, when they appear on the island for a charity concert at the Villa Marina on Saturday, October 14.
They are being brought to the island by the youth charity Junior Achievement Isle of Man for a special fund-raising night, which the organisers hope will feature some of the best singing groups the on the island.
Manx choirs are being given the opportunity to apply for the chance to share the stage with the popular group.
’Junior Achievement are giving Isle of Man choirs the opportunity to perform with Collabro,’ said Alex Day, events coordinator with the Douglas-based charity.
’All they need to do is send Junior Achievement a video of their choir performing a song and Collabro will pick one of these choirs to sing with them in the Villa Marina Royal Hall.
’The winner will have the opportunity to open the show with a song and then later perform on stage with Collabro.’
Collabro, who feature singers Matthew Pagan, Michael Auger, Jamie Lambert and Thomas Redgrave, won the TV talent show Britain’s Got Talent in 2014, last performed in the island in 2016, again appearing for a Junior Achievement fundraising concert.
Since their last appearance here, Collabro have toured the US and released their latest album ’Home’, which has seen them return to their theatrical roots.
’It was a fantastic evening of musical theatre and we’ve had loads of requests to bring them back,’ said Alex. ’I’m delighted they’ve found time in their touring schedule to return for this show.
’Collabro really know how to put on a show and have built up a loyal following among the "Collaborators" as their fans are known.
’They’re tremendously talented singers with that special gift of connecting with their audience in a way that creates a brilliant atmosphere and an evening to remember.’
Tickets for the night, which begins at 8pm, are £35 for a table seat and £29 for tiered and circle seating, available from the Villa Marina box office.
