Ramsey Commissioners have welcomed a planning application by Island Care Ltd to refurbish King’s Reach Care Home, off Jurby Road, which is currently unoccupied.

The company wishes to bring the accommodation up to modern-day standards, including the provision of en-suite shower rooms to all bedrooms and increasing room sizes for some of the smaller bedrooms.

This would be achieved by reconfiguring the internal layout together and building a two-storey extension. This would bring the total number of bedrooms to 52, one more than at present.

As part of the proposal, some of the ground floor bedrooms would have direct access to the garden, while two first floor lounges would be made more spacious by the provision of balconies.

The commissioners agreed that the application was good news for the town.
