The government has issued a consultation into next year’s Isle of Man TT Races schedule.

It has been proposed that the 2020 races will be run on a revamped schedule, which the Department for Enterprise says is designed to improve both spectator entertainment and to mitigate the demands that are placed on teams, riders, volunteers (including the TT Marshals’ Association), and local businesses and residents.

The proposed schedule has already been announced and widely publicised.

The first day of practices would be Sunday, May 31.

Roads would shut at 1pm on that day, with the newcomer sighting laps following 30 minutes later.

Qualifying sessions for superbike, superstock, supersport, lightweight and sidecars would follow that.

The races themselves would begin on Saturday, June 6.

The DfE says that the proposed schedule will mean some changes to road closure periods and the established racing schedule.

It says it wishes to seek the view of residents, businesses and fans, who feel they may be affected by the proposed changes.

The consultation will run from December 13 until January 31.
