A 25-year-old Douglas man will face a Court of General Gaol Delivery trial after denying affray.

Declan McBurnie, of Drury Terrace, is alleged to have been involved in an incident at an address at Hillside Avenue in Douglas on February 28.

The prosecution allege that he pointed a knife at a male during a row, then towards a pregnant woman’s stomach.

Prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis submitted that the allegation was too serious to be heard in the summary court, and should be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for trial.

Mr McBurnie was represented by defence advocate Darren Taubitz, who agreed, and the case will be committed to the higher court on August 11.

Bail continues.
