A 43-year-old motorist has been fined £160 for having an untaxed vehicle.

Nikolay Georgiev Kolev admitted the offence and has also been ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.

Magistrates heard that police found Kolev’s Toyota RAV 4, parked on St Ninian’s Road in Douglas on March 22.

The vehicle’s tax had expired in May 2025, and it was subsequently seized.

Defence advocate Ian Kermode said that the defendant had bought the vehicle in February 2025, for his granddaughter.

Mr Kermode said that it had been parked since then, and only used by self-employer gardener Kolev two or three times in that period.

The defendant, who lives at Stanley View in Douglas, will pay at a rate of £100 per month.
