A 24-year-old Douglas man has been fined £265 after admitting being drunk and disorderly.

Liam Anthony Hutton, of Empress Drive, was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs.

Police were called to Queen’s Promenade in Douglas on August 31, at 7.30pm, after a report of three males fighting outside Promenade Shirts.

Hutton was identified and found behind Millennium Court, with officers describing him as heavily intoxicated.

Appearing before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood on October 6, Hutton opted to represent himself, declining the offer of a duty advocate.

He said he hadn’t started the fight, but accepted he was intoxicated and swung a punch, claiming that it was in self-defence.

He agreed to pay the fine and costs.
