A 35-year-old woman has been put on six months’ probation after a fight in the Heron car park.

Frankie Clawson pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour.

Prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis told magistrates that Clawson was initially involved in a verbal altercation with another woman at Spar in Anagh Coar, at 1pm on June 13.

They were said to be shouting and swearing at each other, and were asked to leave by staff as there were families with children present.

The other woman’s mother claimed that she’d been outside in her car when Clawson approached and said: ‘Is that your f****** daughter in there? You better get her out or I’ll smash her face in.’

The two women were said to have walked from the shop towards the Heron pub car park where they started fighting.

Clawson was said to have pulled the other woman’s hair and hit her as the duo rolled around in a tussle.

A passing police car was flagged down and officers separated the women.

A bystander filmed the incident, with the footage later widely shared on social media.

Clawson claimed the other woman approached her and slapped her while in the shop.

Clawson told probation: ‘I just lost it and saw red.’

The probation report said the defendant suffered from anxiety and had had significant challenges.

Letters were submitted from a family friend and Motiv8.

Defence advocate Jim Travers said his client’s last conviction was16 years ago and the incident could be categorised as a blip.

‘She accepts she lost her temper and having emerged outside Spar, the red mist descended,’ said the advocate.

Clawson, of Lheannag Park, Douglas, must also pay £125 prosecution costs at a rate of £10 per week, deducted from benefits.

Magistrates told her: ‘Obviously scrapping in a public place at 1pm is not very becoming of a 35-year-old woman.’

The other woman will appear in court on a separate date.
