A Douglas man has admitted being concerned in the importation of cocaine to the Isle of Man.

Ross James McWhinnie Jr, 26, of Queen's Promenade, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of the offence.

McWhinnie admitted being involved in the importation of 0.3kg of cocaine on June 24 and a further 0.5kg on June 25.

Prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis said the quantity of drugs involved meant the case was too serious to be dealt with in summary court.

The defendant was represented by advocate David Clegg.

McWhinnie has been committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing and is due to appear on August 7.

No application for bail was made.
