A 36-year-old Ramsey woman admitted selling cannabis to friends when she appeared before the Deputy High Bailiff
Natasha Kimberly Van Buul pleaded guilty to being concerned in supply of the class ’B’ drug as well as possession of it.
Prosecuting advocate Hazel Carroon told the court that a search warrant was executed at Van Buul’s home, at Cronk Elfin, on May 15 last year.
Police found 13 grams of cannabis, valued at £390.
Her mobile phone was also seized and messages were found implicating her in the sale of the drug.
Messages were found to Van Buul asking for ’smoke’ and ’Henry’ (the VIII).
When interviewed, she told police she had bought the cannabis found six months ago for personal use.
When confronted with the phone messages she gave a ’no comment’ response.
Ms Carroon said that the evidence showed that Van Buul had been selling the drug to no more than four or five regular contacts, once a month.
The court heard that she has no previous convictions.
Defence advocate Stephen Wood said that a basis of plea would be entered in which his client would accept supplying cannabis to a close circle of friends, and at times for free.
Mr Wood also requested a probation report before sentencing.
Prosecutor Ms Carroon told the court that a proceeds of crime (POC) application was being made which can only be done at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.
Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks said that he would have retained summary court jurisdiction if it were not for the POC application.
This will mean that the Deemster sentencing Van Buul will be limited to a maximum summary court sentence of 12 months custody.
Van Buul will appear at the higher court on March 25.
Bail continues in the sum of £500 with conditions to live at her home address and to contact probation.
