Firefighters tackled a hedge fire covering around 15 metres in the Dhoon area this afternoon (Thursday).
Crews from Laxey Fire Station attended the incident and were able to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further.
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service said that while temperatures have dropped slightly and some rainfall has been seen in recent days, vegetation across the island remains ‘exceptionally dry’ and the wildfire risk is still considered extreme.
The service warned that even a small fire can quickly escalate in the current conditions.
Station Officer Matt Tyrer urged the public to continue taking precautions to help reduce the risk of wildfires.
He said people should avoid using open fires and disposable barbecues in the countryside, plantations and on hills, while smokers should ensure cigarettes are disposed of safely and never thrown from vehicles.
The Fire and Rescue Service is also reminding people to take litter home, particularly glass bottles which can contribute to fires in dry vegetation.
