Steam train services were temporarily suspended this afternoon (Sunday) after firefighters were called to an outdoor fire in the Ballabeg area.
Crews from Castletown, Rushen and Douglas were mobilised at around 12.30pm following reports of yet another outside fire.
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze was quickly brought under control thanks to the swift actions of the first crews at the scene.
An off-road fire appliance and water bowser were used to contain the fire before the area was fully dampened down.
Around 11,000 litres of water were used during the incident.
The fire service confirmed that the cause of the blaze was accidental.
Isle of Man Today understands that train movements were suspended for a period while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The train due to arrive in Port Erin at 12.50pm did not reach the station as scheduled, meaning the 2pm service back to Douglas was also unable to depart.
The train arrived in Port Erin shortly after 3pm.
The incident came after the fire service responded to four other outdoor fires during the previous 24 hours amid exceptionally dry conditions across the island.
Firefighters have urged people to take extra care, warning that dry vegetation can allow outdoor fires to spread quickly and make them difficult to bring under control.
