A Douglas-based dance school has given a total of £500 to three Manx charities.

Move It, a dance school on Westmoreland Road, equally split the amount towards Hospice Isle of Man, Wish Upon a Dream Isle of Man and Manx charity Live at Home scheme.

In July this year, the school entered about 150 of their students and a float into the Douglas Carnival.

Its Disney and forest-inspired vehicle went on to win £250 for being the ’best float’.

Michelle O’Hea, from the Move It team, said: ’The army of parents and helpers spent weeks planning their entry and produced something that would rival a Disney parade!’

The Move It team decided to match the amount and split it between the three ’very worthy causes’.

The Live at Home scheme is currently supported by corporate services provider SMP Partners, which is a sponsor of Move It’s production ’Move it into the Woods’.

The production is to take place in the Gaiety Theatre on November 30 and December 1 and will feature 180 students.

The Mayor of Douglas Jon Joughin and his wife Mayoress Angela attended the cheque presentation along with representatives of the charities and SMP.
