Island residents have two weeks remaining to submit their personal income tax returns for the year ended April 5, 2026.

The deadline for returns to be received by the Income Tax Division is Tuesday, October 6.

The government is encouraging taxpayers to submit their returns online, with 66.8% now using its online services to file their annual return.

Once registered, taxpayers can submit and view their return online, receive instant confirmation that it has been submitted and review assessments and balance details securely.

The service also allows online payments to be made and income tax refunds to be paid directly into a bank account.

Online returns are pre-populated with salary and state benefit information, meaning taxpayers do not need to manually look up and enter those details.

Paper returns can be submitted through the letterboxes at the front entrance of Government Office or on the second floor inside the building.

Anyone requiring a duplicate paper return has been advised to contact the Income Tax Division as soon as possible to allow time for it to be issued and returned before the deadline.

A £100 penalty will be charged if a personal tax return has not been received by the Income Tax Division by October 6.

If the return remains outstanding on April 6, 2027, a further £200 penalty will be charged.

Payment of the penalties does not remove the requirement to submit the return, and taxpayers may also face prosecution for failing to do so.

People experiencing difficulties accessing or using their Online Services account can contact the Income Tax Division by telephone or visit the public counter for assistance.

The public counter is open from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

The Income Tax Division can be contacted on 685400, with telephone lines open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and from 9am to 5pm on Fridays.
