The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA) has been charged with four health and safety related breaches.

It is accused of failure to discharge duty, failure to comply with regulations and two counts of health and safety regulation breaches.

The offences are alleged to have been committed between January 1, 2019, and September 17, 2019.

The Department was represented in court by advocate Jim Travers who asked for time to review the case papers which he described as ’considerable’.

Also charged with two similar offences is Switched On Entertainment Limited, whose address is The Curragh, Ballaugh.

They were represented in court by advocate David Keates and are accused of failure to discharge duty and failure to comply with regulations.

No details of the allegations were given in court and the case was adjourned until August 18.
