The bottom of Crellin’s Hill and Lower Finch Road in Douglas is closed to traffic this morning.
The severe rain that fell overnight means the road surface at the bottom of Crellin's Hill has broken up and become unsafe, the police say.
It isn’t known at this stage just how unsafe the road has become and as such it has been necessary to close it until the Department of Infrastructure can examine it later today.
A police spokesman said: ’We realise that this will cause some issues for commuters in the morning who would normally come down Crellin’s Hill or along Finch Road (also closed) and as such we are advising motorists and pedestrians to find an alternative route.’
There are reports of disruption elsewhere as well.
Some vehicles were stranded and there was some flooding in Malew Street, Castletown which has affected homes.
