The line-up for a weekend festival dedicated to the theatre and dramatic stage performance has been released.
Theatrefest 2019 features two nights of original theatre and stage musicals, and takes place on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5, at the Studio Theatre, Ballakermeen High School, from 7.30pm on both nights.
The festival will see four original plays, created in the island, including ’The Mechanic’, a musical set during the 1950s TT and featuring music written by Pat Cullen, and ’M is for Manx Cat - the Musical’, an inventive staging of the children’s book written by Gemma Hjerth.
There will also be ’Identity’, the festival’s annual devised piece of theatre, created by the cast during the week before the festival, which will be led by London-based theatre director John Wright (pictured above), along with the premier of ’Purga-tree’, written by Mike Bonner, which won the 2018 playwright competition.
Tickets for Theatrefest are £10 for adults, and £8 for all concessions, available from studiotheatre.ticketsolve.com. Tickets booked for both nights receive a 25% discount.
