More than 85 privately-educated pupils are celebrating their exam results in music and drama.
Twenty-seven King William’s College students entered London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) exams in four main disciplines - acting, public speaking, speaking of verse and prose and devising drama - on levels running from Grade 2 to Grade 8 with every single participant receiving either a merit or a distinction.
Every child aged between nine and 11 at The Buchan was entered for their choral speaking certificate - Grade 1 for Form 3 and Grade 2 for Form 4 - and all 61 pupils received a distinction.
The exams were all taken before teaching and extra-curricular activities were moved online as a result of Covid-19.
Alex Duncan, the head of drama at The Buchan School, said: ’For so many children, this was their first experience of such a formal exam and they should be commended for their efforts.
’Each of them have worked incredibly hard and the results are a testament to their attitude, work ethic and enjoyment of the subjects.’
Drama teacher Zoe McAndry added: ’This really is another superb set of results and I am naturally delighted for everyone involved.
’To gain so many distinctions, particularly at senior grades, is a fine achievement and special mention must go to Guy McGuiness who gained two distinctions.’
The annual tuition fees for Buchan pupils are £12,750.
