A special exhibition celebrating John McGuinness MBE's 30 years competing at the Isle of Man TT will open during the Classic TT later this month.

The free John McGuinness MBE pop-up exhibition and cinema will be held at the Mercury Club, close to the TT Grandstand, and will be open daily from Wednesday, August 19 to Friday, August 28.

McGuinness first arrived in the island in 1996 with a Honda RS250R and has since become one of the most successful riders in TT history, with 23 victories to his name.

The exhibition will feature 10 motorcycles associated with key moments in his career, alongside the leathers and helmets worn during those chapters.

Among the machines on display will be the Honda RS250R that McGuinness and Paul Bird brought to the island in 1996, as well as the Honda 250 on which he claimed his first TT victory in the 1999 Lightweight TT.

Also featured will be the Yamaha R1 which took McGuinness to his first Superbike victory in 2004 and the 2007 Honda Fireblade used for his record-setting first 130mph lap of the Mountain Course during the Centenary TT.

The Honda CBR1000RR from his 2015 Senior TT victory will also form part of the collection, alongside a special-edition 2026 Honda Fireblade created to mark his three decades at the TT.

Another section of the exhibition will focus on McGuinness' distinctive 'voodoo' helmets.

The voodoo doll design has featured on his helmets since 1999 and has become closely associated with his pre-race preparations and his TT career.

A separate display will chart McGuinness' wider impact on motorcycle racing, featuring photographs, personal items and historic memorabilia, including recognition of the MBE he received for services to motorcycle racing.

The Mercury Club will also host a dedicated cinema showing career highlights, memorable races and features from McGuinness' 30 years of TT competition.

A live recording of the TT Podcast with Chris Pritchard and Lee Johnston is also scheduled to take place at the venue, while a merchandise area will operate throughout the event.

The celebrations will conclude with a special edition of Between the Hedges on TT+, featuring friends, rivals and contemporaries sharing their memories of McGuinness' career.

‘Whether you've followed every lap from the hedgerows or are discovering the story for the first time, the John McGuinness MBE Pop-Up Exhibition and Cinema offers a unique opportunity to celebrate 30 years of a true TT legend.’

The exhibition is free to attend and will run throughout the Classic TT period from August 19 to 28.
